Winter Safety Tips
Salt Safety…..
Many people (or their friendly neighbors) may cover their sidewalks or driveways with rock salt to prevent slippery ice. While intentions may be good, all that salt isn’t doing your pup any favors! The tiny granules commonly irritate the pads of their feet and can cause a multitude of health issues if ingested. To prevent this, Ruff Day Pet Resort recommends to:
- If possible, adjust the route of your walks.
- Invest in a pair of dog booties. They are a great way to protect your pup’s paws from salt and ice, and they’re fashionable!
- Carry a towel during walks so you can wipe off any snow, ice, or salt
- Consider treating their paws by rubbing them with a thin coat of petroleum jelly or paw balm before you face the elements!
Winter Play Time at Ruff Day Pet Resort
We are frequently asked how our pup’s playtime differs in the winter months. Thankfully, Ruff Day Pet Resort is equipped climate-controlled indoor play areas! Our dogs are cozy while playing inside, however still have access to our outdoor yards for bathroom breaks and monitored play!
Sorry snow-loving pups, you will have to come inside to play and warm up periodically!
